Online Banking
Do you remember the bad old days of high street banking? The bank was only open until half past three in the afternoon. You had to rush to the bank in your lunch hour to get money out or pay money in. If that wasn’t convenient then you had to take time off work to visit the bank. These were the days before automated cash machines were dotted around our streets and town centres for our convenience, before debit cards and before the popular use of credit cards. In fact, the use of a credit card was restricted to the wealthy and professional class.
How things have changed. Banking hours have expanded and some even open on a Saturday morning now. Our cash is available to use as and when we need it thanks to automated cash machines, not that we need to use cash because we have debit cards and credit cards to buy the goods we need without any fuss.
This new convenience was taken to a new level with the advent of the World Wide Web and online banking. Many of the services offered by banks can now be carried out online from the convenience of your own home. Some people are concerned about the security of online banking, but this way of using banks is very secure and probably safer than walking down the street with a wallet or purse full of cash to pay into the bank like we used to have to do in the bad old days.
